The Hobbyist by Darryl Shelly

The Hobbyist
by Darryl Shelly

The Hobbyist is a coming-of-age story masked as a sex addict's roller coaster. Based upon true events, the author authentically chronicles sexual awakening from a man's perspective as he pulls back the curtain, and with staggering honesty, invites you into his private world of decadence. Not to be confused with a book on recovery, this raucous account is a cautionary tale of heartbreak and hilarity as a young man rises to manhood and into the throes of full-blown, sexual addiction in New York City.

I spend my days writing and reading while listening to classic rock music (occasionally with a glass of red wine).

I published my first novel, Remembered, in December of 2012, and the two follow-ups of the trilogy shortly after.

About the Author:
Writer, Poet and Author by day and night. I have always been told I have a way with words and very vivid imagination. A teacher once told my mom, “If only he could write down on paper what creates within his mind. He can tell quite the story”. It wasn’t until after I took a liking to poetry that I thought I could take my creativity and combine it with my new love and appreciation for the style of poetry. Aside from the usual main classes I had in high school, I took elective courses such as Creative Writing, Arts & Culture and Epistemology which were very helpful to my writing and creativity. Of course, English was also a class to which helped me grow as well. I also took a course on Journalism and while it gave me a different take and approach to writing, I found I didn’t really enjoy it and just didn’t feel it fit me the way to which I enjoy writing. I like to be organized both physically and electronically, so wherever I am it’s got to be neat and whatever I am writing has to be organized and in a manner to which I can find it. I am currently working on a few short stories that will end up in various anthologies and next year will get started on my 4th novel, Opium Warfare.

I am a passionate poet and proud author of three books, “The Macabre Masterpiece: Poems of Horror and Gore published on January 9th, 2010, "A Bloody Bloody Mess In The Wild Wild West" published on April 26th, 2013 and "Like A Box of Chocolates" published on April 26th, 2014.

When I'm not writing or reading books I'm usually promoting them. When I'm not doing anything book related my interests usually include sports(Big NFL Football Fan, Baseball and Basketball), History, Ufology, Egyptology, The Wild West as well as the bizarre and things unexplained.
