Boy oh boy, was Preston hot. Make that boiling. Scorching. Molten lava kind of hot. Messy dark brown, slightly wavy hair that was not long but not short either. And, oh what a mouth he had. His mouth made me want to jump on board and ride that train for life. His lips were the perfect kind of full and every so often, he’d run his tongue across them and I’d automatically squirm. His face was pure angular perfection...high cheekbones with those slight hollows beneath them, that were the perfect shape to accommodate my lips. But those eyes...my oh my. They were golden brown, like coffee with lots of cream. I could only imagine what they looked like right when he was...

Cheezits Ava, get your head out of the bedroom!

“Wouldn’t you agree Ava?” my brother was asking me.

I shook my head and swallowed. “I’m sorry, what did you say?”

“We were talking about the weather here in the summer and I was saying how much more pleasant it is than in Charleston?”

“Oh, yes it is.” Was my voice breathy sounding, or was it my imagination?

Preston was wearing jeans that rode low on his hips. They were tight and he had a superior set of buns. What would I pay to see those babies?

“Ava? What do you think?” someone asked.

“Buns!” I blurted out.

“Excuse me?” Caroline, my sister-in-law, asked.

Holy Toledo, did I just say buns out loud? What the hell Ava!!!

“Fun! Anything sounds fun!” I quickly said.

“Ava, you look a little flushed. Are you sure you’re feeling okay?”

“Hot! I mean no, I’m fine.” I looked across the room and my face totally flamed. Everyone was staring at me. I had unbuttoned my blouse and was fanning myself. I’d noticed that Preston had a gloriously hot tattoo of a sideways cross on his arm. I think I needed to go home.

“So Avery, where are you staying?” Caroline asked.

“Oh, I’m at the Four Sexy. Seasons! I mean the Four Seasons.”

Oh dear God, I need to get my act together here.

I really liked this story. It begins with Nikki, your typical teenage girl. Her life is going along smoothly, well as smoothly as any teenage girl's life can, until the day her best friend asks her to spy on a crush for her. From that point on, Nikki's world starts spinning out of control, ultimately leading to discoveries beyond her wildest imagination.

The story itself is incredibly unique that turned out to be very complex. I'm not really sure what I had been expecting, but it was a lot of fun with all the convoluted elements and seeing how they finally fit into place at the end. One of the things I liked best about the story is that at any given point you had no idea who you should be trusting. If I were Nika, I would have been pulling out my hair with all the hot and cold feelings from everyone – especially Rick and Marc. It definitely kept me on the edge and was full of surprises by the end. The whole intent of the story could have easily gotten lost in all the complexities – but it was pulled off and the conspiracies played out well. One thing I can promise is that you won't guess where the story ultimately leads.

The one thing you will have to try to overlook in this book is the language that does not flow as smoothly as it should. As the author is not a native English speaker, some of the translations are not completely Americanized. However, this should be fixed in the second edition of the book. Once you get used to it, the language issues are easy to ignore, as the meaning usually comes across clearly. Despite this issue, the story is great and will keep you absorbed.

I knew from page one I was going to like Chloe Carpenter. Funny, witty, and smart, she makes a great lead. After a life-threatening accident as a teenager leaves her with the strange ability to be able to communicate with animals, Chloe takes a job caring for animals at a wildlife park. Chloe is the type of girl who knows what she wants…at least she thinks she does. The day oh-so-sexy Zane shows up as the park's new vet, Chloe's world is turned upside down. With Zane's arrival strange things also begin to happen, and Chloe begins to question everything she's ever thought she knew.

The characters in this story were great. Besides Chloe, we have the sexy werewolf, Zane. Zane is your typical alpha male – always saving Chloe from disaster and causing her to blush just with a look. The chemistry between the two is hot, and their banter is a lot of fun. The book had me laughing the whole way through. As for the rest of the characters, there was a great mix of supernaturals, both good and bad. The good guys were great, and the bad guys were deliciously wicked.
